Admissions Criteria
Program Acceptance Criteria
Mercer Island High School students may be accepted based upon the following criteria:
Desire to attend a four-year university
Ongoing commitment to academic achievement
Ongoing commitment to participate in extracurricular activities, such as sports, summer camps, internships, and paid work
Meets one or more of the indicators of economic need:
Experiences financial hardship
Participates in free or reduced-price lunch program
Participates in Washington Students Achievement Council’s College Bound program
Participates in a federally funded TRIO program (e.g. Upward Bound)
Family income is at or below the DHHS Poverty Guidelines (https://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines)
Family receives public assistance
Student resides in foster home
Student is homeless
Other extenuating circumstances
Willingness to be coached throughout the process
Parental approval for student to participate in MILEAP
